Visits

I miss my ‘kids’.  Not in a sad light, but in an I love them so much I can’t get enough of them light. I see and communicate with them regularly as adults and I love that, too, of course. Anyone who knows me one little bit knows what a shamelessly mushy mumma I am.

Sometimes I just wish I could go back in time to visit.  With the knowledge that I have now and the stronger body I had back then, I would spend that precious time snuggling them as infants, playing with them as children, travelling and hanging out with them as teens.  Being present in a way that I wasn’t able to be when I was a younger woman with the stresses of the world to juggle.

My favourite moments are the ones that I spend with the people I love.  Even with our huge family, at our gatherings, I love to spend time chatting with all my aunts, uncles, cousins, extended cousins – all of them.  Each and every one – but there never seems to be enough time!  Especially since I moved across the country.

Social Connection

One plus about social media is the ability to see the sweet moments that my family and friends share. First day of school photos, Halloween photos, engagement photos, wedding photos, vacation photos, anniversaries, memories, birthdays… Their posts and all of the encouragement and congratulations from each other are like little visits in between when we can see – and of course, hug – each other next.

Memory Lane

Scrolling through the photos and old videos that I’ve digitized and flipping through the numerous photo albums that I’ve accumulated over the years gives me the opportunity to visit my children at various ages and stages through my memories. In the process, I also get to visit the friends and family who have moved on in one respect or another. I am so glad that I have always been a picture taker and video maker! And I’m glad that selfies are now a thing. I’ll bet many more children grow up thankful to have photos of the moms/dads that would otherwise have been behind the camera more often than in front of it.

Warm Hugs

Seeing and hearing my grandmother in the videos reminds me of her strength, humour, love and grace. Even through the biggest challenges in her life, she would jokingly respond to the question “how are you feeling” by holding them up and saying “with my hands” – always with a little giggle and glint in her eyes. The memories of helping her in the garden feel like her warm hugs. I hung onto her every word when she taught me how to make great growing soil and identified the various plants throughout her award-winning gardens. I enjoyed that almost as much as the raspberries and cream we would share afterward in the cozy kitchen that held memories of crowded family gatherings, delicious meals and many helping hands with the dishes.

Yellow Iris from my Grandma’s garden

Grandchildren

I was not prepared for the rush of joy and all-consuming love that is being a granny. I am also reminded of why I am glad I had my kids in my early 20’s! Watching my daughter with her children is much like visiting myself, although she’s a new, improved version and being with those grandchildren… YEP – it’s like a beautiful gift from the universe that says – here you go – play, snuggle, and shower them with love. A gift that brings me back to raising my children while also giving my child the gift of knowing that I am there to provide that little extra granny TLC – just like my mom does.

Making Memories

And off I go to make more memories with the people I love. The most valuable and precious gift that we have is time. I soak up as much as I can with every visit with lots of hugs and kisses to carry me through the space, however short or long, until our next visit.

Meditating on Memories

I released the third video on my YouTube meditation channel @meditationsforlife. Brew yourself a coffee or tea, get comfy and enjoy a visit to some of your favourite memories while you listen to the peaceful music designed to relax your mind. If you are enjoying the series, please like, subscribe and share with anyone who you think might enjoy it.

Coffee Ritual

I’m a coffee lover. Not that I drink gallons of it every day, but I am very attached to that morning brew and those first few perfectly hot sips of happiness.

I started the day with a luxurious, frothy coffee during a recent stay in Edmonton and I questioned why I haven’t had this cup of goodness in my life thus far! It was a nice little perk to start the day.

It was a sunny, crisp morning that had me reflecting on the blessings in my life. We were attending the celebration of the life of Albert Karvonen. If you were lucky enough to have met him, you already know what an amazing human he was, not only for his accomplishments in the wildlife film community, but as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend.

I was feeling grateful for the ability to be there to support my partner who was mourning the loss of his mentor and friend, to be staying in comfort, to have access to the ‘big city’ stores, to be in the presence of friends and to feel their warmth and love.

I’ve been fortunate in my almost 53 years on this planet to have had very few experiences with loss, in fact, I was in my mid-thirties when I experienced the first loss of my cousin to a tragic work accident. It’s naturally an awkward and uncomfortable situation and one never quite knows what to say. Being a strongly empathic person, I have to prepare myself to be in these situations as I take on the emotions of the people around me.

My rituals help me with staying centered and balanced. Every morning I start with the heavenly beans that sing to my soul (LOL – dramatic much?), then some positive inspiration including motivational videos or meditations.

I know it makes me sound like an old hippie – well I guess I am an old hippie, but anyway… Several years ago, when I was a “business woman” I suffered from insomnia and anxiety for a variety of reasons – at that time I was working too many hours, trying to be super mom and just super woman in general. You know – all the things that we think we need to do/be in our youth until we figure out that the world won’t collapse if we are less than media’s depiction of perfect.

But I digress. What I’m trying to offer as a suggestion for anyone who needs a little “aaahhhhhhh….” in their life is to try listening to meditations, relaxation music/videos. About a decade ago, I was desperate enough for sleep to give them a try and guess what – it worked!

Better than a Pill

I’ve since used them to prevent or alleviate headaches/migraines, to destress, to start the day. There are meditations and relaxation music for everyone from thunderstorm sounds to rainfall, to piano and flute music, to monks chanting and more. Some are guided for visualization and others are just the sounds.

I invite you to have a listen to my meditation channel called Meditations for Life on YouTube. Tell me what you think. Have you listened to meditations or relaxation music in the past? What do you like the best? I will be releasing new videos each week and will try to incorporate your requests as I add new content.

Without further ado…

I’ve just released the second video – why don’t you gift yourself some relaxation and have a listen?

New Year Stuff

Happy 2023

All of a sudden the holidays have slipped by and the new year is well upon us. Did you make resolutions? It’s ok if you didn’t – sometimes it’s better not to! No resolutions means no guilt or shame if you fall off track and there’s only one way to go – forward.

I’ve made resolutions many times with varying degrees of success. Sometimes I reached the goal I set out, sometimes I changed it, sometimes I scrapped it altogether, but always I learn something about myself in the process.

Managing Expectations

Managing expectations became a buzz phrase during my past life as a business woman, but it is also an important thing to remember for yourself. What does that look like for you? It could be reminding yourself that the number on the scale does not reflect what your body looks like. You can search “what does 150 lbs look like” and you’ll find a wide range of results. Or it could be reminding yourself that you don’t have to make major changes.

It’s perfectly ok – and I would highly recommend – simply making small changes incrementally.

The old saying is that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Theoretically, you could form up to 17 new habits in a year. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend taking that task on, but if you’re up to it – why not, eh?

One habit that I choose to continue to make my number one priority this year is self-care. For me that looks like:

  • Bubble baths
  • Yoga
  • Hiking, camping
  • Healthy foods
  • Tea
  • Meditation
  • Learning
  • Rest
  • Water

What is one thing that you will do for yourself this year?

I can help!

Sometimes it’s hard to think of or choose because the task seems overwhelming. I get it. I’ve been there at various stages of my life. When I was juggling the demands of an 8-5 job and trying to be a good mom, maintain a household and take care of myself, I couldn’t imagine one more thing to worry about.

How about this?

We all need rest, relaxation, sleep. We need to clear our minds of all the “noise” that distracts us so that we can allow ourselves the opportunity to reset. I am a big fan of meditation videos. I put them on while I paint or write for focus and I listen to them in headphones when I can’t sleep or to alleviate a headache.

Try it out!

Here’s a link to my new YouTube Channel called Meditations for Life. I will be releasing new videos each week for your enjoyment. Please let me know in the comments how you like them and please feel free to leave suggestions for future videos.

Thoughts

Do you know where your power is?

I had a conversation with someone who was stressing about a number of things including finances as we head into the holidays when businesses shut down but bills are looming and it caused a bit of a spiral mentally for them. They started lamenting about situations that took place long ago that contributed to some challenges over the years and how they should be so much further ahead in life.

Welcome to the club!

Let’s start with the word ‘should.’ Have you ever stopped to acknowledge that ‘should’ implies judgment? We are all best served by leaving that to whatever higher power you ascribe to. Having been on this planet for over half a century, I’ve learned a thing or two from the many mis-takes I’ve made along the way. I write it as mis-take because I don’t like to frame my experiences as errors necessarily, but trying out what works for me and if I didn’t hit the mark on the first take, then perhaps I would hit it on the second, third, fourth, fifth or more takes.

One key lesson that I learned is that life is more likely than not to turn out very different from what you imagined it would be – time and again.

“It” Happens

We are on a planet that is spinning through space with meteors, debris and explosions all around it. A planet that is covered with billions of beings that exercise varying degrees of free will. A planet that is subject to weather occurrences of all extremes of heat, cold, wind, rain, shifting, eruption, drought, famine etc. A planet with birth, death, creation and destruction. Any one of these things can derail our lives in unforgiving and epic proportions.

Let it Go

As I look out my window at the -51C ice fog and wiggle my cold toes inside my thick, cozy socks the Frozen reference seems especially fitting. The point being – if you can’t change it, if it’s over and done with – clear out the clutter. Don’t let it take space in your brain! Acknowledge what sucked, figure out how you will avoid the suck in the future and focus your attention on what you can do today and do that again tomorrow and the next day and the next time you stumble.

Blip

The earth is about 4.5 billion years old. Our lifespan is roughly 2 millionths of 1 percent of the age of earth. If one human lifespan of 85 years was the earth’s lifespan, then one human life would last 141 seconds. Basically 2 minutes. And I have 2 points to make on that – one – all of our problems are pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe and two – make your two minutes count!

Are your needs being met?

Whenever I’m worked up about some catastrophe in my life, I remind myself to breathe and recount my blessings starting from the most basic needs to the abundance of luxuries in my humble existence. I have a roof over my head, food in my cupboard, good health, family, friends, talent, skills, opportunities.

Oh Opportunities!

We all have them, like invisible little gifts floating in the air around us. If you can move your body, you have the opportunity to exercise and be strong, strong enough to become an Olympic champion if you choose to make the most of that opportunity to move your body. If you have a modicum of intelligence you can use your mental resources to create anything that you can imagine.

Naked and screaming

One of the sayings that my children have heard many times over the years is “we’re all born naked and screaming.” My logical mind overrules any doubt or fear when I want to accomplish something and I just go about my business and give it a shot. Sometimes I hit the mark, sometimes I learn a lesson and always I gain experience.

The Key

The key is in your thoughts, in your determination and consistency. That driving force of your thoughts that keeps the vision of what you want firmly planted in the forefront of your mind and shields you from the negative distractions. Do not underestimate the power of your mind.

Grow Miracles

Consider the difference in how you frame the following situation:

Ken R. is a middle aged person who was left with four hungry children to care for and very little financial prospects ahead of him

Ken could become depressed and lament about his woes, allow himself to wallow in the role of victim, spending his thoughts, words and energy on recounting the bad things that have happened to him, spiral into a state of self-destruction.

Or Ken could give himself some time to grieve the situation before putting it in the past where it belongs and think of what he can do today that will bring him one step closer to his goals. He could start by being thankful for the friends and family that provided love and support, helped him find a place to stay, a source of income. Opportunities to start anew. This is how I feel about a blank page in my notebook.

A New Year

This time of year I have the habit of becoming reflective. I love the ritual of looking back at the past year and summarizing how I spent my most valuable resource – time. I look at my photos, journals and my day planner, scrolling from January through December, noting whatever stands out to me. I compare what actually happened to what I thought would happen and usually find it’s a mix of making incremental progress toward my goals, getting temporarily sidetracked, and pivoting because external forces caused me to change my course. Those external forces could be positive like opportunities or negative like Ken’s challenges.

I published 11 books this year!

What?! You may have seen my launch posts talking about my children’s books BUT, because of a course that I’ve been working on for quite some time, I learned of a new opportunity that would make great use of some of my paintings, photos, and the skills that I’ve acquired for creating, editing, formatting and publishing on KDP Amazon.

Stationary love affair

Writers love to write and there’s nothing more soothing to my soul than taking pen to actual paper to write a note, a story, do a brain dump, make my never-ending to do lists, plan my week, set my goals, take notes, copy recipes, outline new stories – I could go on and on. I love notebooks, so I created a series of my own.

11 Units in December – WOOOHOOO

I was so tickled to log in to my account this morning to see that I have sold a total of 11 units for all of my books for December, including my notebooks and the guided journal called Design Your Life that I created for those who want to walk through some of the things that I have found useful in sorting out how to set and achieve goals.

Most of these purchases come from family and friends, but one of those purchases of my newly published notebooks came from Japan! I am incredibly grateful to my family and friends for their support, but it’s like breaking a bit of a barrier to generate sales from complete strangers.

I am one more sale on my journey toward my goals.

And in case you want to check out my notebooks, just go onto Amazon and type in Lisa Nantais or visit my author page here. Perhaps my notebooks will be a useful tool for you in moving toward your goals!

Reverence

It’s a truck meet wildlife world out there

I live inside a National Park. It’s an amazing privilege to be able to live in a ‘somewhat’ protected habitat. I say ‘somewhat’ because it’s a sliding scale and my naive little mind has been shocked time and again by the contradictions that occur within the framework and ‘purpose’ of our National Parks.

Yesterday afternoon, my partner witnessed a horrifying murder that has my little digits on the keyboard today.

As an avid nature lover, he’s out there day in and day out observing and documenting our natural history. He follows and bears witness to the changes of the seasons and how those changes drive wildlife behaviour from migratory songbirds to courtship and mating behaviours of a wide variety of mammals.

Most recently he’s become quite intimate with a large herd of Big Horn Sheep that are relatively famous here in Jasper National Park. He’s observed the old white-faced ewe whom he’s affectionately named Vera-Lynn who seems to be on the outer edges of the mating rituals. And Linda, another ewe who is so old that her horns are almost worn away, who lets those rams know that she will have none of their antics. Then there is Clarence, who seemed to be the lead ram for a while until Big Red came along and Chief, who thought he might give Big Red a go. The battle scars on Chief one morning proved that to be an unwise decision.

After spending a relatively uneventful morning with the gang, Big Red followed a small group of ewes down the mountainside to where they were licking salt on the highway. My partner was thrilled with a beautiful image that he took when Big Red paused and turned to look back at the herd at the edge of a cliff on his way down, describing it as incredibly majestic.

Five minutes later, the majestic ram was skidding on his back across the highway after being struck by a transport truck.

The driver was audibly angry and aggressive. He honked and yelled out the window, but he did not slow down for the sheep on the road and he did not stop after he killed Big Red and neither did the several trucks and cars that passed following the tragedy.

Don’t delude yourself into thinking that this is a random incident. This behaviour happens all day every day on this highway. We know because, we see it every day while we attempt to peacefully enjoy nature. And the frequent fatalities are quickly swept away.

Is this not especially ironic in the season of love, hope, peace and joy? Or does that only come with a prime membership and free shipping?

Finally a plow driver stopped and two gentlemen got out to move the twitching carcass off the road. Thank you for that.

It wasn’t too long afterward that a Parks vehicle came along and it was ‘business as usual’ to remove the carcass to it’s final resting place at the dump.

Yes, the dump.

Not the forest where it would provide nourishment to a whole host of wild creatures that are also ‘protected’ within the National Park.

Not in the hands of an indigenous community that would give thanks and honour the life that was given to harvest the meat, fur and various parts for survival.

Not in the hands of a wildlife foundation that would ensure the life was not lost in vain.

The dump, where the copious evidence of human existence will linger far longer than the decomposed carcass.

I’m saddened, angry and frustrated with the lack of respect and reverence for our wildlife, not only, but especially within the boundaries of the National Park whose existence is specifically for the purpose of protecting our natural environment and ecosystems.

Why do we allow highways to cut through a National Park? Through vehicles do not pay park fees, yet they use the roads and facilities along the way without care or concern for the wildlife whose home they are racing through. .

I started to research things like “what are the guiding principles for National Parks in Canada” and started reading through the legalese to try to gain a deeper understanding of the answer to that question.

But seriously – you need a law degree (and I would say an unhealthy dose of caffeine) to get through it.

Common sense and politics are like oil and water in this writer’s opinion.

I have many questions in addition to why we allow highways to cut through ‘protected’ areas. But for today, I will honour and revere Big Red.

Thank you for being. Thank you for your majestic beauty. Thank you for the amazing images. Thank you for the experience of being in your presence.

And I hope that Linda or Becky-Sue or several of the ewes of that beautiful herd will give birth to Little Reds that we will see frolicking amongst the cliffs in the spring.

Reviews are GOLD

Today is the third and final day to pick up your copy of my new children’s ebook, Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake. This is the third book in the series, Riley’s Adventures with Granny in the Mountains.

In this edition Riley visits Granny through his dreams as he naps in the car on the way to visit his “PapaBanana” and play with their sweet fur baby, Mia. Granny, of course, spoils him with one of her favourites, roasted marshmallows, and when they go to wash the sticky evidence from his face, Riley is startled by the reflection of another canine friend.

Granny teaches him about the coyotes and wolves that live in Jasper National Park then sends him home along a rainbow slide to PapaBanana’s house to play with Mia.

Christmas is coming

As I type that, I hear in my head “winter is coming” LOL – those of you who are Game of Thrones fans will get a chuckle. Well, winter is already here in Jasper, though I know that my Ontario friends are still enjoying some sunshine and warmth. As of today, there are 40 days until Christmas. Perhaps someone on your list will enjoy Riley’s Adventures! Why not pick up up all 3 paperback copies for someone on your shopping list? This is a great gift for under $40 and helps to support your local entrepreneur!

Here is a fun little Christmas Countdown that you may enjoy. You can even write letters to Santa or figure out your elf name – https://yourchristmascountdown.com/

Apparently my elf name is CandyCane Dustytoes!

Tips for Writing a Helpful Review

Reviews are so important to me as an author! I personally don’t buy anything online unless it has a good number of reviews and those reviews are 4 or better. When you can’t physically hold something to make a buying decision – reviews are your BEST friend. Both as a purchaser and as a seller.

Here are some tips that you may want to consider when writing a review:

  • State the name of the book in your write-up – keywords are important for rankings
  • Tell a bit about the book – a one line synopsis of what it was about
  • What did you particularly like about it
  • Was there something you hoped you would see or questions for the author
  • If you feel the product is sub-par – contact the seller/author directly to give them a chance to make it right before publishing a poor review.
  • Who would enjoy the book?
  • Would you purchase it again?

What are YOUR top tips for writing a review?

Do you write reviews? How do you write them? Do you only write one if you’ve had a terrible experience and you are mad as hornets? or Do you take the time to write only about a particularly great experience?

I would love to hear from you

When you are blogging/posting, it can sometimes feel that you are writing to the great abyss. Perhaps I am only amusing myself with my witty comments and observations. Please feel free to like, share, post comments and feedback, email me or message me with any constructive advice. I am constantly learning and evolving as a writer and your feedback is invaluable to me.

Thank you – thank you – thank you!

I can’t say it enough – thank you to everyone who has downloaded the free ebook, purchased the paperback copies, liked, commented or shared my posts, or even just sent me some positive vibes for success. I’m truly grateful and love you all.

Free eBook Nov 12, 13, 14

FREE FOR 3 DAYS ONLY – Nov 12, 13, 14, 2022

This is just a quick reminder to all my wonderful supporters that my new children’s ebook, Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake is available for free on Amazon. I have also made book 2, Old Fort Point and Big Horn Sheep available for free.

Please forgive my newbie-ness!

I’m an independent publisher so I’ve been taking courses, reading everything I can get my eyes on to learn about how to format, publish and promote my books as I don’t have a professional team of designers, editors, publishers and marketers behind me. Please bear with me as I tiptoe through the process.

Book 1 – Pyramid Mountain and Mule Deer – Free Nov. 14

As it happens, my renewal date for the KDP Select enrolment landed smack in the middle of my 3-day free ebook launch. (insert facepalm here) Soooo… I am able to offer it at this time for one day only – FREE on November 14th.

No Strings Attached

Oftentimes when items are offered for free, people are looking for the catch. There is no catch. I want as many people as possible to have a free copy of all 3 books. I really do!

My hope is that you will enjoy them so much that you will tell your friends, and they’ll tell their friends and so on.

Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake

Where does inspiration come from?

To Andrew.
He takes me on the best adventures and thinks everything I do is amazing.

The dedications at the front of a book are often skimmed over and I’ve done so myself many times. But when you publish a book, this entry is one of the most important pages.

There are many people involved in the process, even when you are self-publishing.

Who do you choose to recognize? Who had a potentially profound impact on the book actually coming into existence? Who has put up with your zoned-outness as you agonize about the wording, placing, spacing or font? Who has patted you on the back countless times when your file was rejected again and again for the tiniest alignment error? Who has cheered you on and put your project at the top of their list whenever you needed help? Who takes you on the best adventures?

Thank you, Andrew

I couldn’t wait to sign the dedication for Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake because of the many adventures that Andrew and I have enjoyed there. It’s our favourite birthday, holiday or any day spot to have a bonfire and some camp food while we take photos and time lapse sunrise/sunset shots. He is even included in Jennifer’s paintings to pay homage to his never-ending love and support for all my creative projects.

We’ve actually seen wolves at the location depicted in the book and recorded them howling at night. What an exhilarating experience that was! I don’t yet have any great shots of wolves of my own, so Andrew was kind enough to allow me to use one of his. (Shown at the back of the book)

Coyotes are abundant and we often see them trotting along the roadsides or in the field outside our back window. On one occasion we watched one attempt to sneak up on a few elk grazing in the field. Being a smart creature, it scampered off when the elk took a couple steps and gave a stomp.

Thank you – again!

Thank you for going on this adventure with me. I’m thrilled to have released the third book in Riley’s Adventures with Granny in the Mountains – Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Now Live on Amazon! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Book 3 – Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake

Coyote at the edge of the forest looking back

Join Riley and Granny at Pyramid Lake where they have a sticky fireside treat and catch glimpses of some furry forest friends that remind him of his friend, Mia.

I am tickled to share that my new children’s book is now live on Amazon! It seems such a simple task when following the courses and tutorials…but as you may recall from my musings about Book 2, it is far from simple!

Keywords, Categories and Phrases, oh my!

It often feels like the enchanted forest with a thick, intricate web of roots and branches and the occasional apple knocking me on the noggin, but alas! The KDP wizards have given me my wish and my beautiful book is out there for all the world to enjoy. *A curious question – What words did or would you search when looking for this book?

Your feedback on this is more helpful than you can imagine because I want to make sure that my book gets in front of the right people. The kids, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc. who will appreciate the beautiful images that Jennifer created and the story that incorporates a little bit of learning about Jasper National Park and a LOT of love.

Before I attempt any marketing, I am keeping it low key for THREE DAYS ONLY and offering the ebook for FREE. Who doesn’t love free stuff, right?

FREE FOR 3 DAYS ONLY – Nov 12, 13, 14, 2022

No, I’m not soft in the brain and yes, I do want to actually sell my books to generate income. To boil down everything that I’ve learned through courses, research and trial and error – in order to become noticed, it is important to build a repertoire of reviews. I don’t buy anything without checking independent reviews.

The more reviews, the better AND a “verified review” makes the Amazon algorithms notice me more, which in turn, puts my books in front of more potential buyers.

When you purchase it, even for zero dollars and post a review, you are now a verified reviewer. It doesn’t provide as much leverage as a regular sale, but it’s an excellent start for ‘lil ole me as an independent publisher.

Do you know that you have a Super Power?

You do. Your opinion matters. Your honest review of my book, which I’m offering for free, is invaluable. Just find my book here on Amazon, purchase the ebook for FREE. Of course, I am hoping that you will love it so much that you want to share it with everyone that you think would also love it. And before you ask, YES you can even share it while it is free for purchase! Please share it with anyone that you think may enjoy it and ask them to write a review.

My books are available on Amazon in several countries. If you have friends anywhere in the world, be sure to share with them, too!

Riley’s Adventures with Granny in the Mountains – Coyotes and Wolves at Pyramid Lake is the third book in my series. Available in ebook format for FREE on November 12, 13 and 14.

What about the paperback?

Of course the paperback version is available for purchase. My hope is that you will love the ebook so much that you will want to purchase it for your own children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews etc.

UK Storyteller Contest – fun fact!

KDP has this amazing opportunity for authors to enter the UK Storyteller contest simply by including them in my keywords. The Kindle Storyteller Award is a £20,000 literary prize recognizing outstanding writing. It is open to writers publishing in English in any genre, who publish their work through Kindle Direct Publishing. Readers play a significant role in selecting the winner, helped by a panel of judges including various book industry experts. Thus your Super Powers could really make a difference here.

Thank You

From the bottom of my heart – if you’ve made it this far – thank you. In a world of 1 minute videos, thank you for taking the time to get to know me and have a look at my books.

#2 Best Seller!

Big Horn Sheep lamb laying on cliff

Well, for a moment it was! It has since slipped to #3 according to the actual page for that category.

Your Super Powers are working!

See how much of a Super Power you have? I’ve had only a handful of people take me up on the FREE ebook so far and yet that handful was enough to have the book rank #2 in a category.

There is still one more day to pick up your free ebook copy of Riley’s Adventures with Granny in the Mountains – Old Fort Point and Big Horn Sheep. To sweeten the deal, I’ve put a free ebook promotion for 24 hours for Book 1 – Pyramid Mountain and Mule Deer.

TWO free ebooks! August 26 ONLY

I have to say, I was surprised and happy to see the #2 ranking. So close to #1 ! So I figured I would offer both of the books at $0.00 for one day to see if we can’t hit that #1 spot.

I know you are busy and perhaps didn’t see my first post or maybe you just stumbled on my blog.

That’s ok. You still have one more day to get BOTH of the ebooks for free. All I am asking in exchange is for an honest review. I appreciate that time is precious and I know that I am competing for your valuable attention with things like…oh let me see…family responsibilities, work, downtime, vacations etc.

Time is precious

Every little bit helps! Whether it is a quick share, a share with an introduction, purchasing the ebooks and/or writing reviews. My first line of support are my friends and family. My next adventure will be learning and using the paid promotions available through various websites.

Thank you so much! Wish me luck!

Thank you. I can’t say it enough. Thank you for your support. It really does mean the world to me. I was going to say wish me luck, but I think I know how lucky I already am with the amazing support I have from all of you!

New content coming up!

I feel like I’ve been doing a lot of asking of late, so I promise – my next post will have some nature content. Fact is, I’ve been out and about with my camera and I have some really cute Big Horn Sheep lamb photos and video to share. Prepare for some super cuteness!
